Just like in the last years, this committee organises a hitchhiking competition to a European city with members from Esperia as well as from EPU and TW!ST. The committee organises a trip in which the participants will have to hitchhike to get to the selected destination. They will spend two nights at the destination and several activities will be organized.
The Hitchhikecie 2019-2020 consists of:
- Franka Duijm (Esperia)
- Michiel Strijbosch (TW!ST)
- Thomas Vollema (EPU)
- Julia van den Berg (Esperia)
- Anne Spoelstra (TW!ST)
- Ivan Huizinga (EPU)
The Hitchhikecie can be reached via email@example.com.
A message from the Hitchhike committee:
I’m Franka and I was a member of the Hitchhike committee of ’19-’20. The Hitchhikecie is a committee that consists of members of Esperia, TW!ST (Linguistics) and EPU (American studies). The committee usually consists of six members, of which three are board members of the different associations. Each year, the committee organises an amazing hitchhike competition to a city in Europe. We organised a trip to Bruges (Brugge) and it was a lot of fun! As a committee you are responsible for the organisation of this weekend, this includes things like booking a hostel, booking the trip back to Groningen and organising fun activities during the weekend, like a pub crawl. Prior to the weekend itself, two socials should be organised: the first one to get people excited; the second one to have a speed dating event for people to form hitchhiking couples.
Even though, the hitchhiking itself was be a bit of a challenge for some couples, the weekend itself was great and people enjoyed themselves a lot in the great city of Bruges. As a committee we were really happy that we got to organise such an amazing weekend. If you are interested in joining a committee, I would really recommend applying for the Hitchikecie! Not just because you get to organise and join an amazing trip, but also because it is a great opportunity to get to know more people from the different associations!
– Franka Duijm, member of the Hitchhike Committee ’19-‘20
