As the applications for the next board of Esperia are up and running, we would like to inform you about the various positions within the board you can apply for! Today, Annemarie Herbschleb and Julia van den Berg will tell us something about their tasks.
Hello there. My name is Annemarie Herbschleb, I am 22 years old and I am currently the commissioner of External Affairs and the Vice-Chair of the board of Study Association Esperia. I was born and raised in a town just outside of Groningen but I have lived in Amsterdam for half a year before I started ELC at the RUG. I was a part of the Accie in my first year at Esperia and afterwards decided I would like to apply for the board. I am energetic, a bit extra at times and some describe me as a social butterfly. As the commissioner of External Affairs, it is my job to make sure all contracts with companies are up to date, to get money for Esperia from sponsors and of course to get discounts for the members. It means I am emailing and calling quite a lot of companies and have the fun to go get a lot of coffee with people. Furthermore, I also stay in contact with the commissioners of Acquisition in the committees to help them achieve their goals. Applying for the board was one of the best choices I have ever made. I have grown enormously as a person and I have met so many new friends from other associations that I normally would have probably never met. So I can safely say: “absolutely no regrets!!
Hi, I’m Julia van den Berg (23) and I work as the Commissioner of Public Relations at Study Association Esperia! I was born in Haarlem but for the past 5 years, I have been living in beautiful Groningen city. My friends would describe me as jolly, kind and wayyy too obsessed with internet culture. As the Commissioner of Public Relations, I make Esperia’s events public onto Facebook and the website, take pictures during events, make Instagram posts and I make posters for our pinboard! Since I have a background in graphic design, I take my task of designing posters, banners, images, news sliders and all that stuff quite seriously. I want Esperia to look professional while at the same time inviting and open for everything. The feeling of being proud when someone compliments one of my creations for Esperia is amazing, I absolutely love it! Working within the board is very rewarding and a lot of fun; I’ve learned loads during my time as Commissioner of Public Relations and I also grew personally. I have become a lot more self-confident and I dare to actually speak my mind now, which I never did before. Because I work so closely with the other board members, I love to see how hard they work for Esperia and it gives a great feeling when you achieved something altogether. I wouldn’t have missed this experience for the world!
