Frisian Lecture night

March 1 @ 19:00 - 22:00

In collaboration with study associactions Multi (Minorities and Multilingualism) and F.F. J. Bernlef (Student Association for Frisian students) we will be hosting a Frisian pub lecture night on 1st March at 19:00 (Tuinstraat 22, 9711 VD). There will be three different lectures; In the first lecture Anne Merkuur and Arjen Versloot will be telling us more about the rich dialectal variation of the Frisian language, In the second lecture we will learn more about the rise of extremism in the North of the Netherlands from assistant professor Pieter Nanninga, and finally Daan van Soeren will be discussing his work on translanguaging among bilinguals, making parallels between his research on English-Spanish bilinguals in New York, and Frisian-Dutch bilinguals here. There will be plenty of moments in between to ask questions and discuss various subjects surrounding Fryslân (Frisia), Frysk (Frisian) and Friezen (Frisians). We hope to see you all there!
